ours?

We actually put our name down on the waiting list for an allotment, and went to visit the ones which are for sale immediately (because, suspiciously, no one else on the list wanted them) on Sunday. We are rather infatuated with this one. It hasn't been touched in over a year, but both Marc and I had a kind of 'this just might be our garden' feeling when we walked through it. It has a rundown woodshack that made us think of Russian datchas, a rather large and well-preserved green house, and an old apple tree ladden with apples just by the entrance gate. The rest of the allotment is one big swamp. Literally. I know it's going to have to be a gut thing, but still, I'd like to have some opinions (preferably from the gardening folks among you). What do you think?

Looks good - but how's the location?
If it's easy to get to it'll be a lot more fun. A challenge is a good thing!

(of course, I'm no gardener ... but mine looked pretty good while i still had it ...)

I am new to your blog but it sounds like a great idea! As long as you don't have to travel too far otherwise you will be less tempted to go!! But the thought of having somewhere to go and grow flowers and vegetables and get back to nature sound like a good plan!

Looks great!
How are you doing??? I've been checking every day - any new arrivals yet??

Well, it's a half-hour drive from our house, a two-minute walk from my parents in law and a five minute cycle from my work.

And no, Manda, unfortunately no new arrivals. Still big. Still waiting.

Incidentally, we can't reach the owner. Marc thinks s/he is on holiday. I have a sinister theory that s/he lies buried under the brambles in the greenhouse. Watching too much Inspector Morse really gets to you...
